Charles E. Maulbetsch, age 51, is the founder and Chief Executive Officer of Christopher Place Senior Communities and its affiliated companies. He has 25 years’ experience in the creation, acquisition, and operation of public housing, senior housing, assisted living, long-term care, and congregate care facilities. He is a leading expert in the preservation of affordable housing and the tax-exempt financing of housing and healthcare properties. Prior to founding Christopher Place, he participated in the acquisition and financing of over 1,700 senior and multifamily housing units, founded two 501(c)3 charitable nonprofit companies with over $100 million in assets. Chuck was previously a Certified Public Accountant with Coopers & Lybrand (currently known as PricewaterhouseCoopers) and Ernst & Whinney (currently known as Ernst & Young). Chuck holds a degree in business administration from Western Michigan University. Leading the entire organization, Chuck provides the vision that leads Christopher Place forward to success in property management, senior housing investments, and the development of world-class senior housing.

   
 
Susan Hershberger

Susan is a graduate of Eastern Michigan University with a bachelor of business administration in accounting and information systems. She is a Certified Public Accountant and a member of the Michigan Association of Certified Public Accountants. Susan has 13 years of prior experience in corporate and public accounting as well as three years in property management, and she previously served as the controller in a Lansing-based company serving the travel and distribution industries. Susan leads the corporate team at Christopher Place’s Ann Arbor headquarters, managing the high-level functioning of all departments and properties and providing hands-on direction for the finance and accounting teams. She facilitates the needs of investors,  from the initial offering through regular communications and ongoing services.

 
Bela Vyas

Bela earned her bachelor of business administration in accounting from Davenport University. She is a Certified Public Accountant and a member of the Michigan Association of Certified Public Accountants and American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. She has over nine years of varied finance and accounting experience in public accounting, corporate accounting, and property accounting and has served clients in a variety of industries, including construction, real estate, manufacturing, and healthcare services.

   
 
Chris Priddy

Chris is a construction management professional with over a decade of experience in architecture, construction management, and development. Chris is actively manages Christopher Place’s development activities and all construction-related matters. He has earned his bachelor of science in architecture from Lawrence Technological University and spent 12 years working in project management for general contractors and real estate developers. During this time he directed the design process and managed the construction of multi-million dollar projects, including senior housing developments. Chris is primarily responsible for moving forward the vision of Verdura in Ann Arbor, working with and coordinating all involved entities and ensuring stake-holders are informed.

Susan manages marketing initiatives for Christopher Place’s investment opportunities and managed properties. She keeps investors informed and connected, and she promotes Christopher Place’s properties in their local regions, leading the sales and marketing teams at each community. She has 10 years of experience in business management in the medical field and formerly worked as a graphic designer at The Henry Ford in Dearborn, Michigan, and in her own design service. Susan earned her associate in applied science degree in graphic design from Washtenaw Community College in Ann Arbor.

   
 
Mark Sandell

Mark is an award-winning graphic designer and copywriter with over 25 years of experience in traditional print and Web-based media. Prior to joining Christopher Place, Mark ran his own design studio, providing a full range of creative services to many local businesses and organizations. A graduate of the University of Michigan, he is an annual guest lecturer in the U-M Communications Studies program and has served as president, education chair, and communications chair of the Ann Arbor Ad Club, an affiliate of the American Advertising Federation. Mark works with each property on print and web advertising and collateral to achieve full occupancies.

   
 
Amy Hagerty

Amy has over 12 years of accounting experience in both profit and non-profit organizations. Prior to joining Christopher Place, she served as an accountant for a local custom home builder and their affiliates. She has a bachelor's degree in accounting from Davenport University. Amy works closely with each property to coordinate and oversee the daily accounting activities, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll functions.

   
 
Katie Ostrowski

Katie has six years of administrative/executive assistant experience in fields that range from dentistry to property management. She has an associate's degree in business administration and is currently attending Eastern Michigan University part time.
